What's a feed?
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds allow you to monitor a changing set of web pages such as a news site or forum with the aid of a "feed reader", or in special ways by some web browsers.
If you see the RSS icon anywhere on susu.org (an example is the main forum page) then changes to the area you are in are reflected in a feed.
Most web browsers (with the exception of Internet Explorer, until version 7) provide some visual indicator that a link to a feed has been found on the page. In the case of Firefox, an orange icon appears in the address bar, and clicking it allows you to create a "live bookmark", similar to one of your internet favourites except it can present a menu of recent items in the feed.
Another option is to use a program specifically designed to read feed data and present it in a friendly format. To use them, you need to click on the link we provide to the feed, which will produce a rather unfriendly looking page and something like "http://forum.susu.org/latestposts.xml" in the address bar. In the feed reader program, find a "New" button and paste that address where prompted.
A popular example is Feedreader. Subscribe to the SUSU forum feed in Feedreader and you get something like this:
